It's getting to be that time of year when we look back at all we have accomplished in 2023. It has been an exciting year at the Chamber and we are proud to share our accomplishments with you:
Our membership grew 20% in 2023 and we are now 128 members strong. Our membership includes all types of businesses from large local employers to non-profit organizations to owner operators within Kimberley and district area and beyond! Our members represent a variety of industries including retail, construction and trades, accommodation, finance and legal, food and beverage, and community services.
We managed 8 community events and projects including State of the City with Mayor McCormick, Kimberley Ambassador Training program, JulyFest, Happy Hans' 50th Birthday, sustainability improvements to the Visitor Centre building, phase 1 of the cuckoo clock preservation project, Countdown to Christmas shop local campaign and the annual Platzl Light Up. And we were able to provide project assistance and support to the Kimberley Community Band summer concert series in the Platzl and to the Kimberley Health Centre Society strategic planning project for the Kimberley Health Centre.
We held 7 Chamber events including the Business Excellence Awards, a golf event, networking and education sessions and our Annual General Meeting.
We received, and spent, $113,076 in grant funding and $25,730 in event sponsorships for various community events and projects.
We advocated on behalf of our members and the business community with respect to rezoning issues, an extension of the repayment terms of COVID funding supports and for inclusion of businesses and economic development as a regional strategic priority.
All in all its been a positive and accomplished year and we are proud to play a role within the Kimberley business community.
Thank you to all of our members, staff, board of directors, volunteers, sponsors and community partners. We couldn't do it without you!
